If you’re a frequent reader of my infrequent blog you might recognize Gavin from these two posts (the circumstances of how we became friends will never cease to amuse me). Gavin’s been making music for a long time, and I was bummed that I didn’t know about his previous bands until it was too late. He’s been working on new music under the moniker Tennyson Wolf, and needed some portraits so we spent a nice and windy August afternoon walking around the harbour. I was a little nervous to do it because it’s been a while since I’ve done portrait shoots, especially if I don’t have any ideas, lucky for Gavin I was feeling extra inspired then. I got to try some new stuff and we made many photos that both of us are super happy with, sometimes that’s all it takes for a good shoot. Enjoy! :)
Originally we wanted to shoot at Coronation Park since I was feeling “green”, but a festival was happening with big crowds, so we walked around and ended up across from the city airport. The waves were so strong that day and Gavin got his feet wet, literally.
Second location. Gavin brought me to this willow tree because he loves them and the willow tree was such a character.
It was a windy day…
I worked really hard on the tones in this next photo.
Our favourites from the day happened when we spontaneously stopped at the bridge on the way back. I was trying some new composition and it worked.
All shot on the Canon 6D with a Canon 50mm f/1.4 that I’ve been “borrowing” from my friend forever. Thanks Sammy.
